Just ordered a Scram 440 (Scram 440 discussion)

Yes we have been screwed with Euro specs, oddly Australia doesn't require anything above 4 but we are a small market and get what is currently available.
Some of the new bikes coming in are still 4.

Today I did my "official" 5000km second inspection. I had done oil and filter change in Goa (full synth) so it was just the small cheap stuff, came to 270 INR (3 Euros). However I was informed that my left side switch needed to be replaced (on company dime) - why? nobody knew.
I also got the new and much improved RE hand guards installed as the movers and packers had smashed the cheap clones I used before. These are really very solid - however for the left side they had to use the clamp of my old hand guard, the RE one would not fit the 440. So some jugaad - but it looks OK.

The next Upgrade will be a 477 BB kit. I wont change the ECU, the OEM should be able to cover that relatively small increase in displacement. If need be I will add a fuelx pro+.

Considering the J can go to 410cc which is basically the same increase you could be right. ECU seems better able than the Euro 4 versions

Changed my mind after my mechanic told me the cylinders of the 410 and 440 are incompatible. I am not full convinced but I will find out. I never got any complaint from our Italian friend who used 2 440s on the 410 engine so I dont know what to think.
However, I did some calculations and the 350 -> 410 upgrade on the j-engine runs flawless with the stock ECU, that is a 17% increase.
The 440 to 500 is only 13% so I will be upgrading the 440 to 500 and hope the stock ECU agrees with me. My mechanic also mentioned that the engine insert is already wider, so no need for any dremel work.

Surely the liner (88.10mm) for the 477 can be fitted into the 440 barrel.
"Engine insert" are we talking about the case opening or the combustion chamber?

There's a difference :ROFLMAO:

So he bought heads also?

recently somebody here in India did convert 411 to 440 including 6th gear I think from TNT customs. they successfully transplanted all the required parts on to h411 body, although they omitted the details on what parts were used, they offer the upgrade for 38k INR not sure if they include ECU as well. But in short I think your mechanic is wrong.

As for my build i m really on fence, as to get 440, add side rail, change suspension, 19" to 21" wheel and if possible get the old instrument cluster if it fits and call it a day. OR just build my bs6 h411 to 442 BBK, HL-CAM. add 6th gear, SM650 Slipper Clutch, my main concern is regarding the stock ecu, i m pretty sure that ecu wont have a map for 6th gear, and fuel x wont do much about it. the other way i assume is to go with 440 ecu which will be tuned for bigger bore and a map for 6th gear (hopefully wont need fuelx). Will have to deal with yellow engine check light due to that second o2 sensor but thats ok (please do correct me i m wrong or i m missing something)

With the availability of parts at your doorstep I would imagine the decision you have to make is actually harder than it is for me. We don't have the 440 in our market so upgrading the 411 to 443cc would be my choice, you may pick up enough extra torque to not lament 6th gear :)

just the thought of getting all the parts and finding a good mechanic to install suddenly seems too tedious. right now i just feel like getting a H450 instead. although i hate the H450 design and its not a long stroke motor. but the performance i m chasing is somewhere near h450.

define performance. yes, the 450 is faster but driving it in the mountains is a pain compared to my 500cc BS3 Hima. I do own a 440 scram (soon to be 500) and a Guerrilla which has the same engine as the 450 Hima - and guess which one I am selling.
Even just as 440 that bike is better than the Guerrilla IMO. It has 6 gears but I only ever used the 6th when on a highway and even there not all the time. Some people love to tinker, and for them its great to get a 5 gear switched to 6 gear - but the pain of getting the parts really is making that goal questionable. If I am very unlucky I wasted 200 bucks on it - in INDIA. In the west that would be 3 times the money and 3 times the time if you can get them at all.

Just found out the base gasket for the 440 is now metal - and 3 times the price. The top gasket is still the same (bigger of course)

After 4 month (!!) my tachometer has arrived. Although it originates from China I had to order it thru the USA. I am curious if I can get it to work. Gemini AI has handed me a circuit diagram and instructions - but not sure if it hallucinated them or if they are real. soon we will know :alien::coffee::cool:

performance for me is quick overtakes. I agree with you 100% on tinkering part it makes the bike unique to yourself. its just that the RE guys in India are just Pain in the arse to deal with. ask them for any part besides air filter and and oil filter they make you wait like 2 to 3 months. i had ordered 440 ecu 2 months back still haven't received it or any update.
