Better front brake

Aha,now i understand where infaltion comes from. tt's the little kids in their mom's basement printing money illegally. Let me call my local police station and this will be sorted and all will be back to normal
Enough, back to the topic....

So, I got the Scram 440 caliper. Will get it fit post Ramadan as my garage is closed till then.
But it seems a direct fit. The caliper is a 30-32 mm as compared to our stock 26mm.

As Sam already mentioned in another post, the braking on the scram 440 was better and I am hoping it will make things better on the 411 as well, combined with my radial brake levers.

did you change the disc as well?
Nope. The scram 440 also comes with a 300mm disc like the Himalayan. So I plan to first check the new caliper with the stock himalayan disc.

I do have a 310 mm disc with me that matches the disc mounts of Himalayan 411, but would need to create a mounting bracket for the caliper. So not planning to use that yet. Anyway it might be an overkill for the Himalayan.

the 300mm floating Brembo disc used in the 535 conti fits - I have used it on my BS3 Hima. fantastic results with the Brembo caliper going along with it

Yes I recall. That is the first post from Google search that lead me to the old forum, and introduced me to Himalayan Tools. 😁

Just a small update, measured the mounting bracket, it's not a match with himalayan. Slightly bigger gap between the two mounting holes and also bigger sized bolts.
Will be building an adaptor post Ramadan with my Mechanic.

Yeah, that sucks! I wonder if they do this on purpose or if they just don't care. I see this with so many different parts that almost fit but not quite. They should learn from BMW which had a policy (in the past) where you could exchange 90% or parts between models.

So, I did manage to Install the 440 unit on himalayan.
I got the 440 caliper bracket mounting holes filled up with welding.
Then redrilled them to match the hole and threading of the stock caliper bracket.

Did it's job well, now I can swap back to stock if I ever need and didn't have to spend much on a custom mounting bracket.

Braking is definitely much much better. Will see if I can grab a video this weekend.

I was doing a braking test. I don't have any distance measurement, but as I mentioned earlier, the braking is much much better. Check the small snip of a video from 110 kmph to 60 kmph without using any downshift.

Fitted a Brembo (28mm pistons) caliper from a Gilera GP800 ( also fitted to Aprilia SRV850 and probably other Piaggio offerings) as well as certain HD models. Significant improvement over stock. I use Vesrah HH sintered pads and a nearly new disc. No need to change the master cylinder ( unless you want to!) You need to reuse the Himmie caliper bracket and source an M10 x 1.0 banjo bolt. After that it's plain sailing ( if you have a vacuum pump for bleeding the system). The caliper makes quite a difference over stock. I recommend this mod to all, it's the caliper that should have been fitted in the first place.

Folks, I fitted a Brembo 28mm caliper as well. When I got it, it didn't have this anti rattle spring in it, so I took the one from the original caliper and installed it. I recently noticed the bike squealing at low speed and when pushing it around. I jacked up the front, and sure enough the pads were dragging. First I thought the caliper wasn't free to slide, but it was fine. Then I noticed this clip looked like it was fouling the pistons (it may not when compressed by the pads), but anyway I removed it, and it's perfect now, so it was definitely not allowing free floating of the pads. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

Perhaps the clips are a different size.
