Tachometer with Powertronics ECU

If you fit either of the 2 available Tachometers available on the Web to your bike and it has Powertronics ECU fitted as well you run the risk of burning out the tacho.
This is because of a characteristic of the Powertronics which overlays the ignition circuit with an AC voltage giving a signal voltage of 26Vac.
I know this because I have destroyed 5 Tachometers so far!
My remedy which is working at present ( for how long I am unsure) involves a 5K ohm resistor and a diode in line with the signal wire which dropps the Dc to just under 5 Vdc and 9 Vac.
I am currently using a 15 dollar tach from aliexpress which I have turned down in a lathe to fit the hole in the Nacelle, its a bit tricky but can be done.
