Same here, like there is some confusion,,, like WTF is going on there?

The ban on shipments by India Post to USA has been extended to any and all items. Previously items valued below 100 US$ where exempt but not anymore. Now all shipping to the USA has been halted.

A President of the US has broken the law?
Or just acting Contrary?
No parcels is the least of their problems.
:(

No parcels is the least of their problems.
Maybe - but not the least of MINE
half of my customers gone thanx to orange man.
I may have to start a gofundme to keep operations up

I was told it is part of the MAGA plan to bring back manufacturing to the States, if you relocate then no Tarrifs apply.
Like a lot of "great" plans they come with great pain.

The "New Normal" as the Euro Post guy said, like so many he is attempting to normalise the erratic behaviour of one individual.
Your Saviour, your Retribution! Is anyone else sick of this crap?
Single-handed he will destroy the US which will hand the reins to China as the worlds largest economy and superpower, all Empires end and this one is racing forward with both feet on the accelerator.

OK, this is getting OT - continue discussing political aspects in the gossip area please.

I have checked several courier services, many are super expensive, other require add paperwork from my bank which I am in the process of getting, long story short, it will take another week at least before I can ship anything to USA.

At what tarrif rate?
Has that been determined yet.

At what tarrif rate?
as of today according to GROG

Effective Tariff Calculation Example

  • For a typical Indian-exported auto part (e.g., HTS 8708.99: other parts, base 2.5%):
    • Base: 2.5%
    • Section 232: +25%
    • Total Effective Rate: 27.5%
this looks bad but lets not forget that US citizens have been very privileged: e.g. Germany has always levied 19% VAT plus 3.5% duty on imports from India, and similar costs are levied thru the EU.

luckily I currently only have one order from USA and its a very nice recurring customer who I have informed that it will take time to work something out.

everybody else seems to hold their horses - which is great given the situation.

VAT here in OZ is called GST it was introduced in 2000 and replaced sales tax. If you , as a non resident keep your receipts you can claim it back at the airport when you leave, it is a Local tax.
If I ship to another country the GST is not applied.
Must live in the Lucky Country

Ask Google.

Who knows?
I went to the Post Office today to send a parcel marked as "gift" of A$25 value to the US of A.
Was told most parcels are being returned but all should be okay after 6th October, gotta believe the guy at the PO, nice Indian Man from South Africa !

I am in the process of getting this AD thing. My bank has applied on my behalf but like anything else here in India it takes its sweet time.
I may not even be eligible to get it at all - there seem to be minima regarding number of shipments which I may not be able to meet.
In that case the only option is to wait for Trumps bullshit to be struck down by the courts and hopefully regular postal services to resume.

Explainer:

An AD (Authorized Dealer) Code in export is a 14-digit alphanumeric code issued by a bank authorized to handle foreign exchange transactions under the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It serves as a unique identifier that links an exporter's current account to their international transactions, ensuring that foreign currency proceeds for exports are channeled through the correct banking system for customs clearance and monitoring purposes.
Key Functions of an AD Code:
Customs Clearance:
It enables international shipments to be cleared by customs authorities.
Foreign Exchange Monitoring:
It facilitates the tracking of foreign currency inflows related to export and import activities.
Legitimate Transactions:
It confirms that an exporter's account is authorized for legal foreign exchange dealings.
Seamless Operations:
By linking the exporter's bank account to their export activities, it ensures a smooth and efficient process for receiving payments.
How it works:
The exporter applies to their bank to obtain an AD Code.
The bank, which must be authorized to deal in foreign currency, issues the code in a format prescribed by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
The exporter then registers this AD Code with the DGFT and the Customs authorities to process their export-related transactions.
When an export occurs, the AD Code ensures that the payment in foreign currency is routed to the exporter's designated bank account.

Waiting on the Courts! That will take patience ;).
