Noobie Questions!

Hi, I joined the forum a couple of weeks ago, but have only just got round to start asking questions!! :)

I'm in the UK & have a 2022 Euro 5 Himalayan, which came with a Tec cam, Hi-flow air filter & exhaust system.

Am interested in the 477 upgrade, but not sure if it will work with the changes already made, maybe somone could point me in the right direction!! :)

Another question, is the cylinder supplied with the kit a standard 411 cylinder that has been overbored/re-sleeved?

Many thanks - Shirty

Hi Shirty and welcome!

to answer your questions (which are all answered in the FAQ btw)

yes, it will go very well with TEC cam and the other improvements your bike already has. in fact they are recommended.

the 477 cylinder has a new liner aka sleeve and a forged piston (the oem is cast)
Thanks for your reply Sam, very helpful :)

Another question regarding the use of the additional electronic ECU unit; presumably I need the FuelX Pro module to go with the BB kit, I guess leaving it as standard or using the FuelX lite won't be beneficial?

Thanks

presumably I need the FuelX Pro module
while you CAN use FuelX Pro (not lite) it is only an additional gimmick - it is not needed. I have it on my BS6 but can not really get much out of it.
You must have the Powertronic which is a piggyback ecu that allows manipulation of all riding conditions, not just he o2 sensor related (like fuelx does).
The map file with a 477 baseline are available after you have been registered as "dev" member, they may need add. tweaking.

Again, thanks for the info! :) (y)

I have a question. I've installed the 477 kit, and I'm still just breaking in the engine using the 1st tune on the Redbox ECU. My question is between 3k-4k under light throttle and little to no load the bike seems to miss fire and breakup but only under light throttle other than that it runs good. Has anyone else had this issue?

define miss fire, you mean popping when closing throttle? or straight out miss firing? With electronic ignition that should never happen. I have never heard anyone describing miss fireing under any condition.
and what does breakup mean in this context (none English person here)?

Thanks for this reply! When I say a ignition miss fire I'm defining it as it sputers or not in rhythm. This is happening under light throttle input only when cruising with very little load on the engine like running on long flat road ways. It doesn't pop when closing the throttle or any other non normal sounds. I will recheck the TPS voltage and tune settings to see if I missed something.

Don't touch the TPS! (Throttle Learn procedure must be successful )
Come up with a method of determining your throttle position at the handle bar where you can see it when riding and recreat these symptoms noting the revs.
When you have the data, you can open the map and look at charges.

When set correctly the Red box will do its best hold a predetermined AFR , it needs a few seconds of steady throttle input to adjust.
Little things like cable free play and bigger ones like the Throttle Learn need to be done.
Does it do the same thing in different maps?

Thanks , I did the Throttle learn cycle over just in case I missed something but I haven't tried any other maps yet other than map1 for the first startup. I just ran the bike for about 50 miles or so to seat the rings. Sometime next week I'll try a different map on my second outing with it.
