as a vegetarian I always found it funny how meat eaters would discern between food animals and pets - is it in the taste??

Something to do with values?
Or money! We in Australia could eat Kangaroos which have survived in concert with the environment and have done so for eons but destroy the environment to run Cows and Sheep in a matter a few generations.
So it makes me think it's all to do with money.
