Swapping H411 2022 Ecu+TB with 2020!?

It's a known issue by now that Himalayan 411 2022 ECU which is fused to Throttle body is damn difficult to reprogram and is not compatible with red box ECU that makes big bore or even cam upgrade not worth it. yes there are PTv4 and fuel x pro to somewhat mitigate this issue, but going through HT forum especially @sam2019 experience, its not worth hassle for subpar optimization.
So, I came across a video on YT a guy who did injection delete kit from Hitchcock motorcycle on his 2022 Himalayan. So, it made me wonder would it be possible to swap 2022 ECU+TB with 2020 ECU+TB which are two separate unit and interim use redbox for BB and cam.

Has anyone looked into this type of mod?

in fact for short while it was a discussion issue (on the old forum) when the BS6 came out 5 years ago. but the problems or rather the costs are overwhelmingly high, its WAY cheaper to sell the BS6 and buy a BS4. The BS6 CAN be made to run relatively good (not as good as a carby model but nearly as good with PT4 compared to BS4 with the red box). Most of my problems back then stemmed from wrongly connecting PT4 and FuelX Pro - an error I only found out much later. After that was fixed it ran OK. In my defense I can only say that there is no instruction online or anywhere how to do it and we only figured it out when video calling Racedynamic support.

btw: I have my old PT4 from the bike I bought in 2020 lying around and anyone wanting to go that route can get it for free with a 477 kit purchase.
While it did work til the end (for selling I built the bike back to stock 411) there is of course no warranty with that...(comes with map switch too)
I since changed to the Scram 440 and that -of course- uses a different model PT4 and fuelx.

First up, the Red box was useless initially, because of the maps supplied.
Powertronics pt4 is equally useless without good maps.
If my Bullet can run on PT4 and Fx pro+ (with a decent map) with a 125cc increase in displacement then I see no reason why it would not work on a Himalayan with just 64cc more displacement.
Sure it will not be as capable as the Red box with a good map, larger throttle body Camshaft and the other mods.

@sam2019 hmm i just enquired with my local RE Service center about the prices, he said it is possible, if everything fits (Harness and TB& Rbox) cost will be almost similar to pt4+ and Fuelxpro+. Assuming Fuelxpro+ isnt required with Rbox.

@Dool I did check your throttle body post it is out of my skill level to understand, is there somewhere i can check out understand better about this mod? coz i m not keen on going big bore as of now, as i m not sure what the performance improvement will be with BB+Cam vs just CAM.

Somewhere here I have posted my last dyno run on the Himalayan which was stock plus Cam, from memory it produced 4.5 to 5 HP extra

utter nonsense. the guy is an idiot or he tried to fool you. assuming work is done in a RE workshop calculate 8- 10k for the work, you need a new harness and cables and the "choke" thingy and TB and probably more stuff I have forgotten. a new PT is 12k. the red box has no O2 sensor input so fuelx is not in the comparison. but hey, its your money, burn it any way you like

I'm not trusting RE guys to touch the bike, I mostly prefer to do it on my own expect if I had to go big bore. had horrible experience with them. But i do have good equations with parts guy he gave me an estimate of 24k with harness and TB. PT4 and Fuelxpro is 19500inr and 11500inr. but yeah i agree to fact that changing just the harness will be too much of a hassle and who know what other problem might arise. I was just hoping to avoid RaceDynamics I had experience with their Customer Support, they just assume everyone is an idiot and give out very vague and generic responses, but seems like that could be the only option besides finding a decent BS4 machine in India which has not been abused.

yeah i did come across that thread but i couldnt find it again. hopefully i might again stumble upon it. 4.5 to 5hp thats like around 25RWHP?

You are right, I mixed up price for fuelx and PT. But in your calculation you would also need the red box. and 24k is optimistic if it includes work. But it may work out. I guess parts if new will be around 16-18k. If you can live with disfunctional LEDs. if not you will also need a new instrument cluster as well (13k last I looked). I am not sure the plug that go into the BS6 instrument is compatible with a BS4 harness. Better check.

also: if you want to avoid electrical juggaad you need to change right and left side of the handlebar, left bc of choke bs4 has, right bc of light switch bs4 has and you will loose ABS of course plus the connector to the gear indicator was changed. there may be more I am missing.
Ah, yes, the cat is now in a different place so the o2 sensor cable wont fit. It may also be a different cat, so engine light always on is a possibility.

@sam2019 BS4 wiring harness is completely different beast, on the other hand 2020 BS6 is almost identical to 2022, except for compass, choke and ecu plug. everything else is on point with the BS6 norm cat and o2sensor. the important thing is ecu is a seprate unit not fused to TB. I think i need to take a leap and see if it works for the community.

Its a losing proposition, as mentioned before we discussed this earlier. no need to invent the wheel again. I close this thread.
