This is a pain in the ass to put it mildly. Numerous "tips" float the internet but none really work - at least not to the extend that harming yourself in the process or damaging other parts of the bike are unlikely.

Now I found this ingenious simple mechanism on the German RE forum - easy to make and easy to understand why it solves this problem.
It was designed by the user "Guido" who uses the nom-de-guerre "Dieselfieber".

The threaded rod is rotatably mounted in the lower clamping block and the upper clamping block has an internal thread. Using an open-end wrench, you can push the two clamping blocks apart via the hex nuts.

Guys, keep remarks TECHNICAL and save cranky attempts at humor for your friends at your weekend barbecues.
