Yes But the Sun Is Hotter because you live on the side of a Mountain, surely, so the Fading is not His fault:)

Quick update: i figured out all modifications needed to make this into a working prototype. Which means i completed the design in my head  I think i'm quite close to what RE had in mind.
The to do list has shrunk to about 4 mods and having the sprockets made (for which i started sourcing) .
Excited to confirm that kicking the himalyan is on the cards.

I found a supplier to make the sprockets but since he is very busy it will be at least next year before he can start working on it.
Will be contacting other companies in the meantime to speed things up.
I might have them make the idle gear first so i can keep working on the mechanism.

Went to a local machine factory today specialized in making gears (established since 1904!),
Me showing clutch hub and 3d printed idle gear. Guy responds: mmm dat doesn't look like an ordinary tooth design, could be cutsom. Let me check it in our workshop. 10 minutes later seeing people flying aroud with measuring tools and a lot of talking. Comes back: Yes we got the tooling we can make this!
Left the parts behind so they can make a quote. Expecting big numbers but we will see.
To be continued...

On Dec 8 there should be a ZOOM party "1 year waiting for the kickstart"
If we ever get it this device will then be the ONLY reason to buy a "old" Hima - everything else is better on the new one <semi serious>

Spoke to a Dealer today he says they have not got set pricing for Australia.
Says it's been described as retaining the DNA of the Himalayan ;)
Well he would, wouldn't he?

Lol, that sounds like an actually good idea!
Is there a reason to buy a new Hima?... It's more complicated, more expensive and more ugly... Reliabilty, well lets wait and see...

Retaining DNA? Does that mean that a factory worker who build the old Hima peed over a new one?

He is a bit Smug, this is supposedly inside info, they have not been brainwashed
I suppose BMW "retained the DNA when they went away from the" Air Head".
Is that what we are going to be? AIR HEADS

I am not excited with the release and why should I be, this is like, thanks for paying the price of a new bike but we want a new customer can you step aside while we sell a new model to new customers whilst devaluing the price of what we previously sold to you

Forgot the worst part

They have performance upgrades up their sleeve, real ones! I forget the number but it was a Decent percentage !

Dial in type stuff.

Not saying ( actually I do not have to) they have been following the SM posts like the conspiracy folks on other forums have suggested , but I recon we are screwed as far as performance upgrades,
apart from the Cams.

Embarrassingly my 443 which had sat outside waiting for me to wait for the man I was waiting to speak to, might have had the ign on the whole time and was in no mood to start.
Kickstart would have been nice. :)

Well. You do not end up married to the hottest girl in town (most times).

Who's sending the link for the kickstart meeting?

this was a month ago, what came of it?

Still waiting for the quote... We had some discussions in the meanwhile though for the construction of the sprocket. Often theses sprockets are equipped with a bronze or similar bushing, but apparently there is nothing available in the required dimensions. so it has to be made custom or figuring out how to do it without (like the starter motor idle gears)

I could send the link probably, but i dont know how to manage four different time zones... Someone's gotta go to the kickstart party in the mddle of the night

I was joking, obviously there is nothing to talk about, Barima is the only one with some influence on the outcome and we could not even share glas of champagne over the wires - so a fruitless endeavor it would be.

I got the quote from the company with insane numbers. Even when making multiple items.
Contemplating finding a different supplier, maybe abroad or switching to a different production method.

can you send the pertaining files and documents to me, I will investigate Indian sources that most certainly will be cheaper if they exist.

I will send you the STL of the idle gear asap. Since i know you have access to a 3D printer now
I might have to redesign it though because i think i can do better now...

I also ordered an industry standard gear from china to keep things going. You can order even order the right bore size so it should directly fit to the gearbox axle. Lets see in which issues we run when this gear arrives. It's definately not the the price :)
