Rode Home a New Bullet today, had 1.5kms on the clock at the Shop, 12.5 by the time I got home. About as new as you get!
Straight onto the operating table.

4 bolts hold the grab rails and release the seat, 1 bolt holds the tank which wasn't heavy(Dealer isn't giving away free fuel!) and it comes off perhaps a bit harder than a Himalayan 411 because there seems to be less free space.20241130_153757.jpg
Decat pipe was first but before fitting it I welded in a bung to take a wide band 02 sensor for my AFR meter

The Muffler is being replaced with what could be the Cheapest Muffler on the Market,it cost less than the decat pipe.

So now the gasses can flow faster out
through the Exhaust system.
Needing to derestrict the Inlet system came next but I had already spent a lot of money by then so I decided on the DSM free flow cover being that it gave the largest opening size available 😁

Now I have mount the AFR meter which is 52mm not 48mm like the Tachometer that is available so it will probably be on the handle bars.

Fitted the Fx pro ➕

You can see the in the background that the handle bars are removed.

I fitted Black Touring Bars, RE ones :)
Removed the glued on left hand grip with a old hacksaw blade and some spirits.

My first experience with this style of handle bar mount, they look nice but, what a pain to refit.
If the bike wasn't so new I would have used my Dremel on the bolt holes.
They come out of the Box with the handle bars fitted and adjusted, I can vouch for that.
The wide band O2 sensor is on an angle on purpose!

And out of the way, not the ideal position for an O2 sensor but for a meter and not the ECU it is more than adequate.
I needed power for the AFR meter so removed the headlight and located a 2 pin covered plug and started getting the parts to plug into that.
But luckily I checked it with my Multimeter and it was dead.
Then I found a 3 pin plug which had 2 +12V and 1 earth so I switched to getting those parts.
Then I thought of CANBUS:eek: and so I just tapped into by splicing and soldering the right side Tigers eye, should be easier to get a new Tigers 👁 than mess with its Brain.
All that done I stuffed around getting the petrol tank back on and started it with no throttle and left it running for 10 minutes.
With a fan.

The Sound of Decat and Cheap Muffler from India.

Interesting sound and so is this error code,

Of course I selected "delete code"

I wonder if the ECU had a problem with the modifications

It was too bloody loud anyway and needs a baffle made and I will have a go at that.
But in the meantime, back to the OEM muffler with De-🐈 pipe and it sounds good.

Having Tubeless tyres on a Motorcycle seems smart but a flat tyre with a tube is about as good a flat tubless tyre if you can not pump it up.
So I cut the handles of a cheap repair kit and mounted them under the seat along with the glue and plugs.
This will of course require seat removal for puncture repairs so I included a 6mm Allen Key to the tool kit.
As a quick top up may just get me going I mounted some CO2 bottles( they are from the life vests found on airplanes which must be replaced )
in the document holder along with the adapter.

Heel and Toe shifter seems to be more in keeping with the Bullet style.
I fitted one and found it hard to get used to as when you adjust one side the other goes out in sympathy , I found myself riding with my foot suspended above the Peg!
So I cut and rewelded it as per the pictures, works quite well now.
Just waiting to get a reasonable amount of kms done before the first Dyno run on a brand new Dyno machine!

I wish!
These items are a bit out of my reach financially.

Small amount of modification to make this fit, probably would wear ear plugs on a long ride and back off if I see the Police.
But on the first ride it felt like I had gained an extra gear, it does make a difference!20241213_163205.jpg

That video of yours may play fine on your computer but not everyone has the same set of codecs
if you use mp4 it should work fine

is this the cheap muffler I sent?
idle seems a bit high though

No it's an Indori, just started that is why it is idling high.

The ECU on these J series is seemingly more advanced than the old Himalayan.
It would appear they have IAC ( inlet air control ) built in and start up is a definite improvement over my BS4 Himalayan.

Indori, never heard that brand name, there is a city in India called Indore, any relations?
Yes, startup was always a bit of a pain - and ppl tried all kinds of gimmicks to overcome it. However a PT will solve that problem when maped correctly.

Not sure but DUM DUM came from India.

I can not find their website but Dug dug motorcycles sells them!

Replaced the first baffle which was 20mm diameter with this at 30mm.
Just a 120mm long open pipe .
The Sound is no louder to my ears, perhaps even better.
Just under 600kms ( first service done) and the engine is freeing up, 1st gear up to 30kph 2nd 50kph and 3rd 70kph, 100kph on the freeway felt effortless.

An update on the plugs I found in the headlight shell, there are 2 blanked off plugs to be found there.
One is a 2 pin Sumitomo style female plug that is for assesories, the reason I found now power there is because it is powered from a relay so only becomes active when the engine starts.
The other plug, a 3 pin is for the tripper, it is shown in the electrical diagram as a 6 pin plug!
